Mini Miracle

Today was a weird day. A really weird day. I hardly ever get sick. I can count on one hand how many times I have thrown up in my lifetime I think. I went to work, felt fine and then early in the afternoon I felt a headache coming on. No big deal, I know.
Soon after that I was feeling really hot and my stomach was getting queasy. A little after that I could hardly move without feeling like I needed to throw up. I even went over some stuff with Jenni and told her I wouldn't leave work, but things continued to get worse. So I left work early because I had to lay down. It has been a long long time since something came on that quick and put me on my back.
The bad part was that I had worship team practice tonight. I had 3 hours at home to get better.
The down time didn't do much, I still didn't feel like doing anything. I ran to the store on my way to practice to get ibuprofen. Took 2 of those suckers and off to practice I was. Missing it was not an option for me.
As I got to church something happened. I felt fine. Not 100% but pretty close to 90%. Sure I could give credit to ibuprofen, but I like to think God worked a mini miracle for me to feel a lot better for practice. Its about 10 now and I'm starting to think about dinner. I think my body might actually enjoy some food, thank the Lord!

Janitor Joys

Every now and then I get to be a part of something sweet at my job. Most of the time it really stinks (literally), but tonight was an exception. A guy came in earlier this week wondering if someone could be around on Saturday night to help him propose to his girlfriend. I usually come in for a few hours on Saturday so I said I could be. Thanks to the help of Tres and Janet, I was able to make the sanctuary look freakin awesome.

Proposing for me doesn't feel that long ago...because it wasn't, but it is a day I'll never forget. I'm glad I could help out. Congrats to Brandon, his great idea, and for landing the woman of his dreams.

Blessing from an Unknown Source

Many of you know what happened with my wife Rose last friday. If not, you can read about it here. Basically it was something where a lot could have gone wrong but it ended up just being a hassle, something to stress us out, and a $102 tow truck bill.

On Wednesday I was mopping a floor and my boss handed me an envelop that said "personal and confidential" and it was for me. I opened it, there was a note that said "Tyler and Rose- blessings" and inside was $102 cash. I was floored. I still can't even begin to say thank you to whoever this was. The tow truck bill wasn't something that was going to break our financial back but it was just something else to hold us back from paying for school and trying to save money. So to this unknown giver: thank you for blessing us. It is so greatly appreciated.

This is on top of a cashier's check we got in the mail about a month ago for $50. All I know about that is the mail was routed through San Francisco but there was nothing on the envelop or on the check that said anything about who it was from.

Growing up I had always heard stories about how people would need x amount of money to pay for this or that and they would just receive it on the mail or something random like that. Something like this had never happened to me until the past month. I don't know if it is one person or two or whatever, but Rose and I are so thankful and humbled by all this. It is often said that where God leads, he provides and we really see that God is providing.

THANK YOU!!!

Tragedy

Sunday morning at 1am on 99W there was someone driving northbound in the southbound lanes and hit a car of 4 girls from George Fox. One of those girls was killed. She was my age, she was actually in my orientation group freshman year of college. I had never really talked to her, or the other 3 girls in the car. You can read a news article about it here. Reading about it and watching it on the news makes we wonder how even three of them survived. George Fox has gone through a lot of loss in the last four years as now 3 students enrolled have died, one by a drunk driver, one lost at sea, and now this. Please remember to pray for those involved and touched by this. This felt a little different after Rose's fiasco on Friday afternoon. You can read about that here. Life is pretty fragile and a hit closer to home than normal always shows us that. I only wish it would sit in my heart longer than it usually does.

Thank you Father for my wife and for her safety. Thank you for the life which you have given all of us. It is through You that we live and for You that we desire to live.

The Hand of God

Wow was today an interesting one...today is my all day in class day, except my 4 hour afternoon class was canceled because my prof was in California at a conference. Of course I had to turn in a 19 page report instead. What joy!!!

I was on the my way home and Rose called. That is my wife for those who do not know. She said that she was getting on 217 from 26 and her car fished tailed and then spun 180 degrees. She lost total control of it. She did not hit a car and she did not hit the guard rail which was 2 feet away by the end of it. Her tire had popped and she was stuck staring at traffic coming at her. Luckily there was a piece of shoulder about the width of a car between the road and the guard rail. I was 30 seconds away from her when she called.

I showed up and she was on the phone with Les Schwab. They don't tow people that are on freeways. Awesome. Then 2 cops showed up and one of them called a tow company because we don't have AAA. 20 minutes was the wait. So we waited, the tow guy came and Rose took my car to work. She was shaken up and a wreck but after we prayed she reluctantly decided to drive again so she could make it to work an hour late.

Me and the tow guy took the car to Schwab's and I paid him for the tow plus a police call premium. I wish I would have known about that before I had to policeman call the tow guy before me. Anyway, the tire was fixable. One freakish event for $102 total for the tow. I'll take it. Rose is unscathed and her car doesn't have a mark from it. God was with her for sure.
